This is the first post on the Bay Ultra Dry blog, so it makes sense to start with an introduction. If you have never used us before, here is who we are and what we do when we turn up at your door.
Bay Ultra Dry has been cleaning carpets and drying out flooded homes in Tauranga since 1988. That makes us one of the longest standing carpet cleaning and restoration companies in the Bay of Plenty. We are locally owned, family operated, and based at 162 Durham Street in Tauranga.
How we came to own Bay Ultra Dry
We did not start this business. It had already been looking after Tauranga homes for more than thirty years when its owner decided to retire, and in early 2022 our family bought it.
We came to it from commercial cleaning. Our other business, SupaClean, looks after cleaning for hundreds of commercial clients, and through that work we were often trying to book carpet cleaners on their behalf. It was harder than it should have been. Some contractors were fully booked. Others were hard to get hold of, or would not work outside normal business hours.
So when Bay Ultra Dry came up for sale, we already had a clear idea of the carpet cleaning company we wished we could hire. We decided to run one.
That is still how we work today. We answer the phone, we arrive when we said we would, and we fit in around your day. Often that means evenings, weekends and public holidays.
What we do
Flood restoration
A burst pipe or an overflowing washing machine does not wait for business hours, so we don't either. Our emergency flood restoration team is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and we aim to be on site within the hour. We extract the water, dry the carpet, underlay and structure with professional drying and dehumidifying equipment, then clean and sanitise everything that got wet. We move fast because mould can start to grow within 24 to 48 hours.
Total property restoration
Once a property is dry, there is usually still repair work to do, and we manage that too. With our total property restoration service you deal with one team and one contact from the first phone call to the final repair, and we coordinate the local trades needed along the way. If you are making an insurance claim, we provide the paperwork your insurer will want to see, including moisture readings and before and after records.
Carpet cleaning
We clean carpets with a truck-mounted system, which cleans deeper and dries faster than the portable machines you can hire. Our carpet cleaning work covers regular household cleans, end of tenancy cleans, stain and pet odour treatment, and commercial carpets in offices and retail spaces. For businesses, we work around your hours so the day is not interrupted.
Upholstery cleaning
Carpets are only part of it. We also clean couches, armchairs, dining chairs, mattresses, rugs, office chairs and car interiors. Our upholstery cleaning uses fabric-safe methods and strong extraction, so most furniture is ready to use again the same day. Pet smells and old stains get a targeted treatment that goes to the source of the problem.
Who we work for
Most of our jobs are in family homes and rental properties, but we also work for offices, schools, shops and property managers. A job might be one couch, or it might be a whole office building or a fleet of vehicles. If your business needs regular commercial cleaning beyond carpets and upholstery, our sister company SupaClean can help with that.
Where we work
We cover Tauranga and the wider Bay of Plenty, including Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Greerton, Ohauiti, Omanawa, Te Puna, Omokoroa, Katikati and Te Puke.
Why locals trust us
Our team is IICRC certified and fully insured. We are qualified in carpet and upholstery cleaning and certified in water restoration, and we keep putting money into training and equipment.
More than 3,500 local customers have used Bay Ultra Dry, and we have over 150 five-star reviews on Google. One recent reviewer, Alen, said our fast response to a flood emergency "saved our carpet". We'll take that.
What to expect from this blog
We plan to use this space for practical advice. Things like what to do in the first hour after a flood, how often carpets need a professional clean, how to handle a spill before it becomes a stain, and what your insurer is likely to ask for after water damage. If there is a question you would like us to answer, get in touch and we will write about it.
